Rating: - Good enough if you already know security
I just passed the Security+ test, and did the book ensure I would pass? Probably not. The fact of the matter is that I have 10 years in the computer security industry and found myself scribbling corrections in the margins more often than actually re-learning about things I haven't touched in years. Virtualization and rootkits is pretty much not even covered in the text. The topic is dull but the material is presented well. The practice questions and test engine are helpfull. I scored 850 out of 900

Rating: - No good reason to purchase
I want to start by saying that I passed my Security+ today with a 868/900 (96%) and there were a lot of hours spent studying good material and a lot of hours wasted figuring out that this Sybex guide had too much erroneous information and some flat-out wrong information. This makes my heart heavy because other materials from Sybex were terrific during my CCNA.

This book read like a CISSP or CEH book with some chapters just deleted out to make it sort of fit the 2008 Security+ objectives. ... Read More

I bought this book for my brother who is deployed to Afghanistan to work on certifications while serving his time in the desert. He read the book and passed the exam. The book and associated CD-ROM tools to practice for the exam where valuable.
