Rating: - Very good book that will help you pass the exam
As of this writing the 2006 A+ Exam will be retired at the end of February 2010. I still recommend this book as it was my main study guide for the exam which I passed. I appreciate how the book is divided into two sections corresponding to the fundamentals exam and then the elective one of your choice. The book focuses more on the Enterprise Technician since it is more popular. I believe that you could pass the exam using just this book, but I always recommend using multiple study materials for any ... Read More

Pros:
The newly printed editions come with working CDs, which have past exams and question explanations. I think the notes I've derived from them gave me more useful information than the entire book, and I understand the publisher lets you download them anyway.

Cons:
Everything else. Everything. This book is written and edited with a shocking lack of care for the A+ exam material, facts, and functionality.

Great Book! Love the review at the end of chapter and the fact that it gives you the answer so you will know if you are correct. The book is pretty big but it comes with a CD. So you can actually take the CD with you to insert into a PC instead of toting that big book.Very easy to understand, written in terms that even the beginner can comprehend.

Rating: - Don't waste you time with this book!
I read the book from cover to cover, got 100% on every practice and chapter test and knew all of the flash cards. I took the test and about 1% of the questions had anything to do with the info. in this book. I'm retaking the test and going with real practice tests this time. Very disappointed. What a waste of money. Do yourselves a favor and buy test prep. items from CompTIA.

Rating: - Comprehensive Study Guide, Thorough Reference Tool
This book is all you will need to pass the A+ exams (2007 editions). If you are looking for a quick, bare bones, "here's what you need to pass" book, this is not it. You're better off with a FastPass book if that's what you're looking for (although I wouldn't recommend it). If you want an all inclusive explanation of concepts and theories along with detailed background information on the hardware and software covered, then this is the book for you! 984 pages is a little intimidating at first but because ...
