Editorial Review:

Product Description:
The museum hires a team of Archaeologists to head deep into a jungle to find Ancient Artifacts. We are that team, ready for action and adventure!

Caves and Claws is a fantasy game, featuring elements of suspense, careful planning, teamwork, danger and humor. The game has three parts. First, we have to hack out the Paths to the abandoned Caves and Temples. Second, using the connected paths, we search for and discover the Treasures. Finally we must return safely to Base Camp with what we gathered.

There are Dangers and Obstacles to avoid, such as The Creeping Claw, The Nasty Hairy Thing and Big Boulders rolling over Entrances! We may have to resort to whatever desperate Remedy we find in our knapsacks to save us: a Super HeadNet, a Laser Lantern, a Piece of Broccoli, even a Smelly Sock! Yes, few creatures can face the Sock!

Includes: 12 x 12" jungle map, pathways, movers, tent card, a set of ancient treasure, danger, and remedy cards, rules for regular and hard games. © 1998

Our customers say: "A completely enjoyable game! It looks like a simple spoof of other fantasy games, but there is plenty of challenging, imaginative play to be had here!"

Play as friends, not as enemies! Our games foster the spirit of co-operation. Players help each other climb a mountain, make a community, bring in the harvest, complete a space exploration... They are never against each other.

Editorial Review:
Caves & Claws is a cooperative, humorous, fantasy game. You are part of a team of archaeologists searching through temples and caves to recover valuable treasures and artifacts. There are pathways built by the players, treasures and dangers, and remedies for the dangers. Cooperation can be fun as the players work to build an accessible path, find the artifacts, and return safely to the tent. Like all Family Pastime Games, the object is to work together and have fun. --Margaret Quinn

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Really nice
Bought this game as birthday gift for son-in-law and his sons. They were happy to get the game requested and enjoy playing it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - "eh" with a shrug
After reading all the glowing reviews on this product, I was somewhat disappointed upon playing it with my son for the first time. First of all, it's not really "cooperative" in the conventional sense. Playing with my son was the equivalent of the two of us playing as one player and just taking turns. Yes, there are separate game pieces for each player, but other than that you have the same goal and same tools to get you out of trouble. There's really no kind of strategic cooperation to speak ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - More than just fun
I played this game last night with my 8, 6 and 3.5 year olds. When I saw how involved the directions were, I thought there was no way this game was going to work for us. To my complete surprise, we all had a great time! The game itself is fun, in an Indiana Jones kind of way, but playing also provides an opportunity to teach crucial life skills, like listening to each other's ideas, building consensus, and sometimes sacrificing your turn for the good of the whole group. My pawn got stuck in a ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Five Year Old's Review
This game is really fun. If you kid is five, I would recommend it for him or her. I like to change the rules to make it easier to win. The cards are very small and they might get lost, but I haven't lost them so far. This game is really easy because if someone else loses, you loses and if someone else wins, you win.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fun for everyone
Cooperative games are wonderful for young children. All the players work as a team to travel the paths on the board to collect artifacts and overcome obstacles to win the game. My 5 year old twins (and my mother and I) love playing this game. Of course everyone wants to have the "stinky sock" remedy card that defeats certain obstacles. You use certain cards to create paths to travel on the board so the game is always different each time you play. I am looking forward to finding more games of ... Read More
